Legatum Strategies was founded in 2020 in Washington, D.C. It was created with the deliberate objective of placing itself at the crossroads of the African Union's landmark pro-market policy, the African Continental Free Trade Area, and the growing numbers of Americans of African descent who want investment opportunities that will arise when all trade barriers are eliminated. By using policy as a framework for project development, Legatum Strategies LLC leverages stakeholder relationships to ensure the efficient implementation of public/ private infrastructure and trade investment projects within and outside the continent. Legatum Strategies provides services based on project and strategy development, business management and planning, and financial accounting. These set of services support stakeholder-client relationships in identifying and mitigating market opportunities and obstacles (risks) respectively
With the ratification of the landmark African Continental Free Trade Area, the African Union has set the goal for the economic future of the continent of Africa. And critical infrastructure will be one of the pillars of the success of this initiative. Legatum Strategies wants to help drive strategic coordination between countries and sub-regional organizations to promote infrastructure investment. Andjelo Chery Mwembya is the co-founder, Chairman, and Senior Strategist of Legatum Strategies. Before gaining 22 years of experience in engineering management, marketing, business development in both the private and government sectors, Andjelo received a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina. Regarded as a trailblazer in the raw mineral trading and mining industry, Mr. Mwembya also made a name for himself in telecom/IT and real estate investment circles across many international borders. Over the years Mr. Mwembya has developed initiatives and opportunities aimed at increasing the quality and availability of business in Sub-Saharan African markets. His expertise includes Strategic business development, Strategic communication management, and contract management. He has developed combined techniques for analytic and strategic decision-making processes.
Alain Ikombo is the co-founder and X of Legatum Strategies. With over 15 years of experience in emerging markets, Mr. Ikombo has made a name for himself as a passionate Pan-Africanist through his participation in causes that aim to advance economic development and human capacity building within and outside the African Continent. His participation in leadership initiatives like the Young African Diaspora Initiative (YADI), alongside co-founder Mr. Mwembya, and role as VP of Business Development for IKOMPANI LLC, a business advisory firm that focuses on linking American and Scandinavian investment capital with investment opportunities in emerging markets in sub-Saharan Africa, position Mr. Ikombo at the forefront of industry standards and innovation.
